Permanent Magnet Motor Field Analysis

For my final project in 6.640, I used the magneto-quasi-static (MQS) Maxwell equations to develop a boundary value problem of the magnetic scalar potential to solve for the magnetic field and flux everywhere in the motor. I evaluated this field at the outside of the rotor and used the stress tensor method to compute the torque. I modeled the magnetization of the magnets and the current of the windings as a Fourier series.

This class project will serve as the backbone for my senior thesis this spring, where I will build on this analysis to design a custom PMSM motor for the FSAE car.
