My name is Rebecca McCabe, and I am a current PhD student at Cornell and a recent MIT grad in mechanical engineering. I am seeking a summer 2023 internship where I can use my expertise modeling mechanical, electromagnetic, fluid, and control systems to design renewable energy solutions in a fast-paced environment.

For my PhD research, I am developing and implementing a systems optimization framework for ocean wave energy converters to strategically manage technical design tradeoffs while considering environmental, economic, and social impacts.

I spent four years on the MIT Formula SAE team, where I designed, built, and tested a high-performance electric racecar each year. My roles included systems architect, simulation lead, powertrain lead, and controls engineer.

I've had numerous industry internships, including in the powertrain modeling group at Tesla, simulating the high voltage system; the marine energy group at the National Renewable Energy Lab, designing wave energy converters; and in the robotics group at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, doing systems engineering for the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy running and educational outreach. I've completed 4 half-marathons and taught hundreds of students about science and engineering.
