I co-founded GAIA, a national competition that empowers college teams to conceive, design, prototype, and execute high-impact solutions for global sustainability.

Leveraging the skills I developed in the year-long Cornell Engineering Leadership Certificate Program, I co-founded the organization with two other students in the leadership program. We worked from the ground up to establish a shared vision, mission, goals, structure, timeline, and culture.
In just the past few months, GAIA has partnered with an NGO in Peru, recruited twenty student members, and worked toward the launch of our pilot 2023 competition. As leader of the competition subteam, I personally drafted the competition rules and gathered feedback from two dozen experts and stakeholders. I oversee and mentor four students responsible for the competition logistics, outreach to competitors and judges, and GAIA's unique impact-based scoring framework. Meanwhile, I collaborate with the two other co-founders to make decisions and strategically steer our organization towards our mission of leveraging individual and collective abilities to maximize the positive impact on people in need.
We look forward to holding our first pilot competition in Spring 2023!
