LEGO Barcode Sorter

Updated: Jul 12, 2019

I built this conveyor belt system at LEGO Mindstorms Advanced Robotics Camp at Penn State, using the EV3 Educational Platform. At the end of the week, I presented my project to the community. I call this machine the Rainbow Reader because it identifies colorful stacks of LEGOs and sorts them into bins based on the particular pattern of colors. In this way, the technology can be applied to factories in which barcodes are used to sort products on the assembly line. This video shows me testing barcode patterns labelled 1, 2, 3, and 6. I omitted 4 and 5 for the sake of time.
